Some Friends' terminology, which may be somewhat confusing to visitors, dates from our origins in 17th century Britain, when George Fox rejected the authority of religious clergy and sought a direct relationship with God.
Quakers have a long tradition, which we seek to emulate, of concern and involvement in peace and social justice issues.
